How to Throw a Great Party and Entertainment for Kids In Long Island

When planning a child's communion celebration, the goal is about much more than simply finding a great venue and putting on some music. The best parties happen when all of the entertainment and event professionals work together to create an experience that keeps the kids entertained, gives the adults a chance to enjoy themselves, and creates memories that everyone will talk about long after the party is over.

We recently had the pleasure of providing DJ entertainment for Miles' Communion at The Homestead in Oyster Bay, Long Island, and it was a perfect example of what can happen when a great venue, an experienced DJ company, and talented specialty entertainment vendors come together.

For this celebration, All Star Party provided the DJ entertainment, while The Creativity Zone provided caricature entertainment and NY Party Artz provided airbrush entertainment.

The result? A celebration filled with music, dancing, laughter, creativity, and plenty of memorable moments.

The Homestead in Oyster Bay

Located at 107 South Street in Oyster Bay, The Homestead has been serving the Oyster Bay community since 1896. The venue offers private catering spaces as well as an outdoor courtyard, making it a versatile location for celebrations and family events. For a communion celebration, having the right space is especially important. You want an environment where family and friends can comfortably gather for a special meal while also having enough room for the younger guests to enjoy themselves. That's where the entertainment becomes such an important part of the day. A beautiful venue sets the stage, while great entertainment brings the party to life.

All Star Party: More Than Just a DJ

At All Star Party, we believe a children's party should be about much more than playing a playlist.

Our DJs and MCs are there to interact with the kids, keep the energy moving, organize age-appropriate games and activities, and make sure everyone has an opportunity to participate. All Star Party specializes in children's entertainment throughout Nassau County, Suffolk County, and Queens. We offer entertainment for birthday parties, communions, christenings, school events, family celebrations, and more.

For Miles' communion, our job wasn't simply to press play. It was to know when to get everyone onto the dance floor, when to change the pace, when to introduce a game, and when to let the kids simply enjoy the music.

That's the difference between having a DJ at your party and having an entertainment company that knows how to run a party.

The Secret to a Great Communion Party? Variety!

One of the biggest advantages of working with an experienced entertainment company is having access to a network of talented vendors who can complement the DJ entertainment. Every child is different, and that's why we love working with specialty entertainment vendors.

For Miles' communion, guests were able to enjoy caricature entertainment from The Creativity Zone as well as airbrush entertainment from NY Party Artz.

Instead of relying on one activity to entertain everyone, the party offered several different experiences throughout the celebration.

Caricatures are a fantastic addition to a communion, birthday party, or family celebration because guests don't just experience the entertainment—they get to take something home with them.

The Creativity Zone has an extensive background in illustration and cartooning, with its artists bringing a professional artistic approach to custom creative work.

For kids, watching an artist turn them into a fun caricature is an experience in itself.

And then they get to walk away with a personalized keepsake from the party.

It's the kind of entertainment that can appeal to children and adults alike.

Airbrush Entertainment Gives Kids Something Else to Get Excited About

Another great way to keep a children's party moving is to offer interactive entertainment away from the dance floor.

NY Party Artz brought airbrush entertainment to Miles' communion, giving guests another creative experience to enjoy during the celebration.

Airbrush entertainment is particularly popular with kids because they get to choose something personal and see it created right in front of them.

Whether it's a design, a name, a favorite image, or another custom creation, it's another opportunity for guests to participate instead of simply sitting at their tables.

Why Teaming Up With Great Vendors Makes Such a Difference

One of the things we've learned after years in the event entertainment business is that great parties are rarely the result of just one vendor. They are the result of several professionals doing their jobs well and working together.

At All Star Party, we enjoy working with talented Long Island event vendors because it allows us to help our clients create a more complete entertainment experience.

Instead of telling a family, "You'll need to find several other companies," we can help connect them with professionals we know and trust.

We want to thank everyone who helped make Miles' communion such a fun and memorable celebration.
